On Tuesday 7th November 2023, the King’s Speech announced The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill – known as Martyn’s Law – will come into effect for 2024.
The Bill will ensure that security preparedness is delivered consistently across the UK, for better protection of the public.
This will affect schools, with government messaging focusing on three areas:
Guide: Direct people towards the most appropriate location
Shelter: Understand how premises might be able to lock-down and shelter occupants
Communicate: Have a means of communicating effectively and promptly with users of your space
